We are now just a few weeks away from the release of my first book, NYONGO, The Hidden Face of Mayotte.

Summary:

Amina, a fifteen-year-old from Mayotte, starts the school year at the Lycée des Lumières in Mamoudzou. She reunites there with Henriette and Karim, her best friends from the village. Together they question the world and face the difficulties of everyday life. But one day, Amina's life is turned upside down. Will their friendship be enough to get through this ordeal?

Nyongo is the intertwined story of three high school students from Mayotte who question the society in which they live.

Nyongo is also a social fresco focused on youth in Mayotte: issues related to delinquency, the necessity of succeeding at school, the rapid evolution of society and generational conflicts, the role of religion in how people apprehend the world...

Finally, Nyongo is a manifesto: through her novel, Ayat Hamidoune, who was seventeen at the time of writing, delivers an unflinching fight for better recognition of women's rights and a more responsible education for young people.
