I believe in art and I have the greatest respect for nature.

Both, and the combination of the two, should be part of and accessible in the life of each one of us!

A PUBLIC SCULPTURE PARK



Whether realistic, feasible or not will be the question of the day more than once in the months to come !?

Before explaining the how and the why, allow me to introduce myself.

For over 20 years I have been an independent sculptor; I have made insect sculptures, abstract sculptures, small and large. I have exhibited in 7 countries, sold to private art collectors (sometimes well-known), to towns and to parks. I am proud to have been able to support my family with my creations during all this time.

Originally we are Flemish Belgian, living in France for over 18 years.





I am someone who searches for life’s values. My art often enters into dialogue with nature.

There is a compromise between my sculptures and their environment. The often natural setting provides the final touch to the works, and the sculptures themselves help rediscover the beauty of nature.







I have always loved creating sculptures, whatever the subject, figurative or abstract — it is my passion.

Nothing can stop me from creating. Also — and not all sculptors can say this — I am strong in monumental sculpture.

Strong so that the result is beautiful ... People give me compliments, "good continuation, you deserve to be seen" ... and so I would like to show a little more in the Minervois where I live.





Rather than continuing to move my sculptures to exhibitions often far away (Belgium or here at the Andorra Biennale) several times a year, where I am not necessarily present, I prefer to gather them in one fixed place so the public comes to them, to us.





I’ll explain quickly:

With the help of my wife, a textile artist for as long as I have been a sculptor, I wish to create a place capable of bringing culture, dialogue, encounters and commitment to one of the major issues of our century: our natural environment and its biodiversity.

We live in a rural area where I think there is a great need for a certain kind of "education" (accessibility) to art, without visitors having to pass through an intimidating door or abruptly change their behavioural habits.


From the start of our careers, we have tried, with and through our art, to raise the viewer's awareness of the importance of art, but also of the importance of and respect for nature and the environment.

As part of this project, I want to create a sculpture park that will be open to the public. A place that promotes open-mindedness, dialogue, culture and respect for all (including fauna and flora).

Art and Nature, Art and Sharing, Art and Awareness will be the pillars of the project.

Even though I prefer to remain independent and faithful to my own cause, "Neither god nor master", I have contacted some institutions and people such as ... the President of the region, the Communauté de communes, the DRAC, ... the https://cms.e.jimdo.com/app/sb5e7d1f9d0a66e49/p1434fb1f115ae2ab/.

I talk about it on my social networks and set up this crowdfunding to solicit the business world under the sponsorship scheme (https://www.service-public.fr/professionnels-entreprises/vosdroits/F32914?lang=en).

Because I believe the solution lies there, in cooperation with the business world.




Originally from Belgium (that goes back to the last century), we observed that in northern countries there is a place on every corner where people can go to discover and appreciate art.

In the Minervois (Corbières), where we live, you have to look very far to find a park with freely accessible works of art.

A place that can also offer opportunities for other artistic projects, be it dance, music or temporary group exhibitions... A place that can be visited without prejudice, without necessarily being a "connoisseur". Families, schools and groups of elderly people should find it equally interesting.



We have monumental outdoor-suitable artworks. We also have indoor soft textile artworks that are complementary while being different. We have the energy and passion to set up such a project, but we lack part of the funding.





Thus, this project needs your support.



To facilitate participation, I give you three options:

1, become godfather or godmother of a sculpture

2, become an ambassadress or ambassador of the park

3, become an investor in the project

Once you have chosen the option to participate, you also want it to succeed, right!?



In any case everyone becomes a "friend of the park" whatever their participation.

What the fundraiser will be used for

In principle, if we want to buy a place (already visited a few), we need at least 100.000€

I set the crowdfunding at 40000€, I believe that, with this amount (or more) and the 30 that we already have, we can approach the banks ... to borrow the rest ...

some politicians as well and

I started a training course to better present this project effectively, to conceive and implement a global strategy, to write all communication materials related to the project and to manage the project's economic development independently.



But what an idea anyway,

I am excited and nervous at the same time







Given the amount sought ... I need some heavyweights among investors !!!

This does not mean that I am not grateful for small gestures from all of you and we will look together to arrange swaps.



The Rewards:

A work of art under the price of 150€ is generally hard to find, but from 120€ we still give you your own ambassadress or ambassador of the Park!!!



1, become godfather or godmother of a sculpture:

I find the idea original. You can invest any amount (give what you want) and become godfather or godmother of a sculpture, of "Megalo X" or of "Hashtag", of "The future is green" or of "the insects", ... With your families, you come to the place from time to time to say hello to your godchildren. Don't forget your picnics, your guitars, your dogs (watch out for cats and other creatures)

2, become an ambassadress or ambassador of the park

You give 120€ and you will receive the symbolic reward of the park (photo below).

An ambassadress will be a textile artwork. You should specify (preferably by email to davidvanorbeek(at)gmail.com) "necklace" or "picture" and roughly the color. As an ambassador you will receive a small statue; choose “figurative” or “abstract”. Transport costs within France are included in this price.

3, become an investor: and give as much as you want, but more than 200€

Don't forget these are swaps, I have the works, no problem!!! I have sculptures at €300 / €500 / €1,000, monumental ones at €5,000, €7,500, €10,000, €20,000, ... even more

From 200€ and up, the sizes of works will become larger and therefore more original as well ... note that each piece is unique in itself.

Transport costs for this 3rd option are not necessarily included in the money given ...

You come to choose your works at our home, or I calculate the transport costs, or I do the transport myself (to be arranged)
