Support fund for the Bah family

I, Diané Bah, one of Ibrahima Bah’s older brothers. I saw a large number of police officers when I arrived this Sunday, October 6, 2019, around 5:00 p.m. in Villers le bel, in the Cerisaie neighborhood.

I heard passersby say: "They killed him. They rammed him. They killed him."

I don’t know why or how. I raised my right fist in the air and said: "My name is Diané Bah. I am one of Ibrahima Bah’s older brothers. They killed my little brother, Ibo" — that’s the nickname we give him.

That is how the tragedy began that my family and I have been living through since then.

Many witnesses accuse the police of physically blocking my little brother Ibrahima Bah’s route with a police van while he was riding his motorcycle. My little brother allegedly then hit a pole, which led to his death.

The police, for their part, say it was an accident.

According to them, my little brother Ibrahima Bah tried to avoid the police check by driving onto the sidewalk. He allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and hit a pole, causing his death.

From October 6, 2019 until today, we have never received any gesture or words from the state following the death of our brother, a son, our friend, our fellow citizen. A French citizen only 22 years old.

As in all cases where the police are implicated, the victims are systematically criminalized. That will be the case for my brother Ibrahima Bah.

We had to hold several citizen marches so that an investigation for involuntary manslaughter would be opened.

More than nine months after the opening of that investigation, absolutely nothing is happening. We have a lawyer, we have filed as civil parties, and yet the justice system of our country breaks the law and does not show us the key evidence in this case.

At the time of the events on October 6, 2019, there were three cameras on site. The justice system of our country tramples the Constitution and refuses to let us see these videos.

The police officers implicated are still serving in Sarcelles. They have never been questioned by the investigating judge. That is why we requested a change of venue.

They will deliberately prolong this fight. They will do everything to announce a dismissal as is customary.

We need strength and resources so that these repeated daily acts of police violence stop and are punished.

This is our fight — for all of us who live in French territory.

Let’s get involved!
