EARTHQUAKE IN MOROCCO
During the night from Friday 8 to Saturday 9 September 2023, a violent earthquake struck the Haouz region in Morocco.
Aside from Marrakech and Taroudant, many villages located in the High Atlas, in remote and hard-to-reach areas, were destroyed. Some villages were completely wiped out.
At the time of writing, the provisional toll stands at 1305 dead and 1830 injured.
We are launching an appeal for donations to help the victims of this disaster. The human and material damage is significant. The donations collected will help purchase basic necessities, cover medical care and later contribute to the reconstruction and the equipping of schools in rural areas.
Who are we?
The Asif association, under the 1901 law, published in the Official Journal on 14/12/2021, was created to operate in the Argana region in the fields of education, sustainable development and gender equality. Argana is a rural locality in the province of Taroudant located 80 km north of Agadir, on the road to Marrakech. We are in contact with the local authorities and associations of this region because we work on joint projects (purchase of a school bus, an ongoing organic farming project generating income for women…)
This region was spared by the earthquake but other villages were not so lucky and we wish to help them. We will regularly inform you on our Facebook page of the actions implemented thanks to your help.
