Artsakh is a region that has been historically Armenian for more than 2,000 years. In December 2022, Azerbaijan imposed a 9-month blockade on the inhabitants of this region by blocking the only road that connected them to the rest of the world. This action aimed to weaken and starve the 120,000 Artsakh residents who lived there.
After these 9 months of blockade, on 19 September 2023, Azerbaijan bombed Artsakh, killing more than 200 civilians and forcing its inhabitants to flee en masse from the Azerbaijani army, which has already been implicated in numerous war crimes committed against captured Armenian civilians and soldiers.
The situation is now critical for the 120,000 people displaced from Artsakh to Armenia, who had to abandon their ancestral land and all their belongings.
We are powerless, destitute and angry in the face of this humanitarian crisis that is recurring for the Armenian people amid the indifference of authorities around the world.
It is because we want to act and not remain idle that we have opened this fundraiser. Our goal is to raise funds to concretely help families to feed themselves and to be housed with dignity.
We are aware that our action is only a drop in the ocean, but with several drops together maybe we can end up making waves…
