Hello,

We are expecting a baby boy in mid-September. His name will be Lewko (little Lion in Polish) and he is already the pride of his parents. Unfortunately, not everything is going according to plan and we need your help.

Lewko has a severe heart problem. At the end of June, during a gynecological check-up at 28 weeks of pregnancy, aortic valve stenosis was detected (obstruction of blood flow between the left ventricle and the aorta due to a malformation of the aortic valve). In addition, the mitral valve (which connects the left ventricle to the left atrium of the heart) is damaged, the heart shows fibroelastosis and the left ventricle is hypertrophied.

The last few weeks have been difficult for us. We have had to process and accept this information (all the more difficult to accept because we already lost our little Bjorn at 34 weeks of pregnancy on February 2, 2021…).

We also had to get organized. Even before he was born, Lewko already underwent intrauterine surgery on July 5 (at 30 weeks of pregnancy). This was a valvuloplasty. A balloon was placed in the baby's heart at the entrance to the aorta and slightly inflated to unblock the valve and improve blood flow. This first operation went well and noticeably improved the situation, buying time until birth for possible further improvement. But nothing is resolved and the cardiologists consider this heart problem critical. Lewko will probably need major surgery after his birth and during his life to hope for as normal a daily life as possible.

These operations and Lewko's follow-up are being carried out at Kepler Hospital in Linz, Austria, highly recommended by Polish health professionals. It is one of the most experienced hospitals in Europe for this type of rare heart condition. Especially since each case is unique and requires a different approach.

All of this has a cost... the operations (very expensive...), the regular trips to Austria, the slowdown of our professional activities so we can devote ourselves to our son's health (we run a small artisan shop in Wroclaw, Poland and are both freelancers in the artistic field). In short, money is the crux of our fight against misfortune (we are talking about more than 100,000 euros...).

We are currently at the 35th week of pregnancy and the delivery is fast approaching! It is scheduled for September 14 and we hope to raise at least part of the amount by then.
