Following antispeciesist actions of property damage against speciesist businesses, four people have been brought before the courts.
They will be tried on March 19, and two of them are already in pre-trial detention. The prosecutor has sought an exemplary sentence of 10 years' imprisonment against them.
To an exemplary demand, let us respond with exemplary solidarity.
Whatever their responsibility in these cases, these are not senseless acts but acts of revolt. This is not about whether activists should admit to the facts, but about acting against all actors of speciesism in the face of the urgency of the situation. All animals want to live and be free like us. By targeting material goods, an economic system that imprisons and destroys lives is being targeted. This does not remove the need for reflection on the actions we must undertake.
Moreover, as usual, we also know from initial testimonies that severe humiliations and pressures were used to obtain elements. It is necessary that the conditions of searches, custody and hearings be clarified with the help of rigorous lawyers.
We call on our comrades in the antispeciesist struggle, and also those from other fights against an oppressive and repressive system, to help us with these defense costs estimated at 1000€ per person and to join us. Let us not allow the State to eradicate our struggles.
