"while he is already held down by five gendarmes who press him against the fence, Sully, an environmental activist, is methodically tied up and then hung by the torso and hands from an excavator until he loses consciousness, unable to breathe: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=703803533565008"
In early October, the members of the Village du Peuple were evicted. The activists who made it up were occupying an old farmhouse in Donges (44) to protect the local population from a project by the community of communes, the CARENE, which wanted to build a factory there for the company CARBOLOIRE. This factory would be a new long-term source of pollution in a region already criminally overrun by polluting industries: excess mortality due to cancer is 28% higher than normal.
On Thursday, October 15, several hundred armed gendarmes, supported by helicopters and drones, invaded the Village to evict about fifteen peaceful demonstrators. To make two birds with one stone, excavators accompanied them, and the occupied buildings — notably a press and a bread oven being rehabilitated by the militants — were destroyed. They were centuries old.
Beyond the intervention itself, which raises a very serious question — public authorities are willing to deploy extremely large forces so that the economic interests of bosses take precedence over citizens' very lives — the form it took is nightmarish. Five gendarmes in fact targeted comrade environmental activist Sully, perched on a barricade. After crushing him against the fence to the point of making him lose consciousness, and while the violence had already reached an unnecessary level, the unthinkable occurred: the gendarmes methodically tied Sully up and then hung him from the bucket of an excavator by his torso and hands until he lost consciousness, unable to breathe. In short, and while he was already restrained, the law enforcement forces nearly killed an environmental activist. This atrocity is unacceptable in all circumstances. All, even in cases of resistance to law enforcement or of offenses considered more "serious" by institutions. Let us recall that Sully was fighting to protect the land, endangered species and the health of the local population.

Sully is currently in pre-trial detention awaiting his trial on November 26 for "rebellion." This environmental activist, in addition to having suffered criminal police violence at the hands of the intervention forces, is moreover being prosecuted and imprisoned until his trial, as if it were him, and not his attackers, who constituted a threat.
He receives no external support other than what we and you can provide: this fundraiser is therefore essential to make the conditions of his detention less unacceptable.
