Solidarity Visor 13

Launched on 23/03/2020 with the aim of providing voluntarily as many face visors as possible to frontline personnel facing COVID‑19, our group counts more than 90 volunteers who are active across the Bouches‑du‑Rhône to fight the epidemic.

VISIERE SOLIDAIRE 13 is the regional branch of a national movement initiated in the Paris region by Anthony Seddiki.

These visors, reusable, disinfectable, are used in addition to respiratory masks to protect wearers from contaminating biological projections.

Validated by APHM, they are manufactured using:

- a frame produced using 3D printing technology that serves as the visor support

- a 200‑micron translucent PVC sheet that protects the wearer from projections

- an elastic band ensuring a secure fit during use

To date we have equipped a little more than 2000 people, mainly:

- healthcare staff in hospitals, EHPADs, COVID centres,

- private doctors and nurses,

- shopkeepers,

- delivery drivers, postal workers

- members of the police and firefighters, SAMU, SMUR13, etc.

But we need you! Nearly 4000 visors have been requested from us, and our raw material stocks are dwindling...

Therefore we are launching this call for donations today. Each euro you give will allow us to buy:

- plastic filament (PLA or PET‑G) used as the base for manufacturing these visors, sold in 1kg spools: with 1 spool, sold at around €15, we can produce more than 50 visors!

This filament is purchased from several regional suppliers who sell it to us at a heavily reduced price so we can continue printing as long as possible.

- spare parts for printers that break down: our machines are hobby printers, not professional equipment, and several of them are showing signs of fatigue...

- PVC sheets and elastics, also essential for production

- fuel for our volunteer couriers who crisscross the department to deliver finished visors to users, to transport raw materials as close as possible to needs, etc.

IMPORTANT : the entire surplus of this fund, if any, will be donated to the charitable association "e-Nable". This association connects "makers" with 3D printers to people with disabilities who have lost one or more fingers, so that the former can manufacture prostheses for the latter to help them recover hand function! Such a prosthesis costs €50, and any surplus from this fund will make it possible to equip as many people in need as possible.
