My name is Jade Sablayrolles and I am a student at the Upssitech engineering school in Toulouse in the Department of Geosciences and Civil Engineering.
For 2 years now, I have been learning to navigate and, over time, improving through regattas, sailing outings, obtaining my navigation licenses, books, films…
As I must complete, as part of my studies, a semester abroad in Cartagena (Spain) and being passionate about sailing, my initial project was to acquire a sailboat, carry out the necessary repairs on it and bring it to Cartagena in order to live on it during my semester.
But from this simple project came an even bigger one.
The project:
**o A long eco-responsible journey: 777 km under sail from Gruissan to Cartagena (semester abroad destination)
o A life experience: living 6 months on board a sailboat
o Highlighting the role of women: promoting women in the scientific and maritime fields
o Sharing the world of sailing: introducing the universe of navigation in a simple and accessible way
o An exchange with professionals in the field of civil engineering: sharing and highlighting the actions implemented by companies to reduce their environmental impacts during construction
o A film: retracing the stages and key moments of the project
