STRIKE FUND FOR POSTAL WORKERS IN GIRONDE (33)
The SUD-CGT inter-union of La Poste in Gironde calls for solidarity to support the actions of striking postal workers in the department!
This fund was created on the occasion of the strike currently taking place at the parcel distribution of the HLU in Bordeaux (the largest parcel distribution center in Gironde) and in Saint-MĂ©dard-en-Jalles.
The strikers are demanding locally the granting of a daily allowance to supplement wages, which are kept at rock-bottom by the national management.
On average, a postal worker with 15 years' seniority receives a salary of 1400 euros.
There is no 13th month pay nor Works Council.
The 'primettes' are all subject to drastic conditions.
The annual profit-sharing bonus is around 300 euros gross.
Hardship, fast-paced work and pressure are the norm.
The strikers are supported by the SUD-CGT inter-union but organize daily in general assemblies and decide themselves on the course of the movement. The inter-union calls on colleagues from different services across Gironde to join this struggle for a decent income.
The strike fund will allow them to hold out as long as possible to force management to give in, which is playing for attrition.
