Hello,
Riad is a 14-year-old boy who lives in Tlemcen, Algeria.
Unfortunately, behind his smile hides an aggressive illness that puts his life at risk every day. Doctors recently diagnosed him with an aggressive form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma.
Hit hard by the disease, Riad had to be transferred to specialized hospital services in Turkey due to the worsening of his condition. Riad is alone, supported by his two sisters (23 and 26 years old) who had to travel to Turkey to help him in his daily fight.
At the time of writing, Riad has lost the use of his legs and is no longer able to walk at all. Doctors are currently doing what is necessary to prevent the tumor from spreading to other organs. Riad must also travel back and forth between the hospital and the accommodation provided by his sister in Turkey, with journeys of 2 hours to receive treatment several times a week.
The situation is urgent and critical, but intensive treatments will increase his chances of survival and improve his overall health.
Thanks to our collective mobilization, these treatments will allow Riad to fight his cancer and obtain a prosthesis so he can walk again!
Despite the aggressive nature of this cancer, the extension work-up did not show the presence of metastases and the situation can still improve significantly; this now depends on you.
According to the estimate issued by Hôpital Mémorial, which is treating Riad, we must raise 59,000 euros to save Riad.
However, unexpected events can unfortunately occur during cancer treatment processes. Riad is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and his already fragile immune system is struggling greatly against the cancer. He is therefore unfortunately prone to infections in addition to his cancer.
Thus, Riad tested positive for Covid-19 this week (the week of 25/07), which now requires additional hospitalization and the greatest precautions from the medical team.
These care procedures generate an extra cost that we had not anticipated, estimated at an additional 21,000 euros compared to the budget planned for chemotherapy and prosthesis implantation.
Of course, all invoices will be made available to you to justify the extra costs related to the additional care and to anticipate a potential new infection due to his fragile immunity.
Association Santé et Partage will act as the trusted third party to collect the donations that will be forwarded for Riad's treatment.
THANK YOU!
