After an intense weekend at a Tattoo Convention in Paris, most of my work equipment was stolen on the TGV between Paris and Bordeaux.
I'm Yann, a professional videographer operating as Yann Polok. I primarily work in video, reportage and events, notably around tattoo culture and conventions.
While I was returning home, my bag was opened without my knowledge in the train's luggage compartment. In a few moments I lost all the video equipment that allows me to work and make a living:
Sony FX30 body
Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 G lens
Memory cards & external hard drive (containing all the footage from the convention)
ND & polarizing filters
SmallRig cage & batteries
As well as numerous accessories.
The total value of the stolen equipment is nearly 5 000 €. Beyond the gear, I also lost all the images captured during the weekend.
I immediately took action and filed a report with the police. Unfortunately, the reality is harsh: insurance does not cover this type of theft outside the home.
Today, this theft is not just the loss of a camera and accessories. It's my entire toolkit that has disappeared, and with it the ability to properly carry out my services, shoots and meet my client contracts. I had sacrificed everything to launch my business, which was finally taking off.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to allow me to urgently re-equip so I can get back to work:
The first funds will allow me to buy a used camera body and a basic lens so I can honor my upcoming shoots and avoid having to shut down.
Subsequent tiers will let me gradually rebuild the rest of my professional equipment (cards, filters, accessories).
€5, €10, €20… every donation really brings me closer to the possibility of resuming my activity.
And if you can't contribute financially, a simple share can already help me a lot. The more this fundraiser circulates, the more likely it is to reach people who care about video, the tattoo world, the work of freelancers, or who are simply willing to support a creator in trouble.
I also want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who has already sent me a message, offered to lend equipment or shown their support.
My goal is simple: to be able to quickly resume my work, return to shoots and keep my business alive.
