My name is BALATI Marie Julie,

I am the president of the association "Zaho Fitiavana" created in 2024, on Sainte Marie Island, "Nosy Boraha" in Madagascar.

The association's purpose is the creation of an orphanage.

(Zaho Fitiavana means: "I am love" in French).

I hold Franco-Malagasy nationality.

I was born on Réunion Island to a Creole (French) father and a Malagasy mother.

Living on Réunion Island, my mother used to take me every year on holiday to visit my maternal family in Madagascar: the land of my ancestors to which I am deeply attached.

There, I saw the misery and poverty people faced every day.

Many children do not go to school, sleep on the streets and beg to be able to eat.

(Access to drinking water, food, education and healthcare remains limited.

Children are left to fend for themselves and many are abandoned because of poverty,

which exposes them to various dangers affecting their well-being and health.).

Moved by what I saw, I had difficulty understanding why there was such a difference between Réunion Island and Madagascar.

In 2017, at 27 years old, during a period of personal and spiritual growth and increasingly aware of the misery and poverty affecting Madagascar's children, I began to feel the desire to adopt an orphan to give them a chance to get ahead.

Little by little, the desire grew inside me and I began to feel the wish to adopt several.

Why not an orphanage?

"I felt that my heart was big enough to help and love many!

— In fact I already love them!"

In 2019, still driven by this deep desire to help orphans, I went on holiday to Sainte Marie Island with my mother, who was still alive at that time.

Once there, I decided to visit an orphanage every day to bring them my help and support (participate in activities with the children, make donations, give gifts, etc.).

Seeing children smiling, joyful, singing, dancing, happy to be able to eat their fill and to be able to study warms the heart!

"One of my greatest experiences, in fact!

My heart grew and confirmed that I was on the right path.

This was exactly what I wanted to achieve!"

To build a facility to welcome orphans, give them love, help them, care for them, educate them, accompany them every day, in a space where they will feel loved and safe, in order to give them a chance to succeed in life by providing everything they need.

Today, 2024, two years after my mother's death and seven years after my first revelations, I was finally able to create my association to set up the orphanage.

I then decided to leave everything to settle on Sainte Marie Island to realize my dream.

And also, to pay tribute to my mother, who at the time had given me her blessing for my project on her native land.

That is why today I am calling on you, for your help, your support and your generosity to help me carry out this project.

With your donations, I will be able to build a fully equipped facility meeting Madagascar's orphanage standards to welcome and meet the needs of these children who are patiently waiting for someone to help them escape their suffering.

Donations will be used for:

(For a facility able to accommodate 25 children to start)

- The purchase of land with water;

- Construction of a water tank;

- Construction of buildings: (dormitories, toilets, school, canteen, kitchen, clinic, housing for the internal team and any other necessary buildings).

- Installation of electricity, purchase of a generator and solar panels (frequent power cuts on Sainte Marie Island);

- Means of transport;

- Equipment for the orphanage;

- Creation of jobs;

- And any other goods necessary for the proper functioning of the orphanage.

Thanks to you, orphans will be able to leave their deplorable environment to find refuge in a stable, dignified and comfortable environment.
